I totally agree with the other reviewer: this is a treasure. If you want to understand what quantum electrodynamics is all about in practice, whether you are studying quantum chemistry or molecular physics or not, this is your book. It is a very nice companion volume to anyone studying advanced quantum mechanics and QED for the first time. A caveat, though: the treatment is noncovariant, so maybe people interested in high energy physics may find it "boring." Otherwise, highly recommended!
The book is good, but trying to go through it linearly would be difficult. Also, I'm not sure how one with a background in chemistry could get through this. It is generally pointed to a physicist interested in chem phys. I would recommend this to a student have a strong background in EM fields, QM, and some basic understanding of quantum optics or even QED from a treatment such as that by Greiner.

Ignoring Lorentz and gauge invariance, this book uses Coulomb gauge unapologetically to derive the simplest and quickest route to QED for applications. It showcases all the reasons why people want to work in the Coulomb gauge. On top of that, it covers canonical transformations into the multipolar formalism, which a fundamental theorist would otherwise omit. Clear and concise treatment.
An absolutely excellent book, a must for anybody seriously studying the interaction of electromagnetic fields with molecules. Very clearly written, totally self-contained, a rare treausure
