About the Author
Penny Swift is a well established writer with loads of writing and editing experience. The projects are actually pretty good and have given me a few good ideas for other projects also. The publishing is pretty bad though. On a lot of pages the captions and the pictures don't match up. Example: the caption will say it's for the picture at the Top Right when the picture is actually Middle Left. They also randomly jump between mm and inches, like it will say you need a piece of flat bar that is 57mm x 6in when they could just say 2 1/4in x 6in.
This book is all right for giving some simple ideas but I felt it gave the home and garden network treatment. The steps are not very detailed for newbies in the field.

This book has really impressed me! In this full color format it truly gives you all the information that you need to start safely and successfully welding your own metal projects. It is clearly and concisely written and the pictures are great and the step-by-step instructions easy to follow. Any one who gives metal workshops for beginners and amateurs should recommend this book to their students.
Not written by a welder in my opinion. The directions were not very clear and the pictures were not clear either and many seemed to be gleamed off the internet and not take during the projects.
