Unfortunately modern "healthcare" and "diets" are litterally killing our beloved pets. In 2017 (almost 20 years after this book was written) the cancer rate among dogs is one out of every 1.61! How depressing is that??!!Through this well-written book one learns about vaccinations, pet foods (both commercial and species-appropriate) and natural supplements.I was fortunate to meet Dr. Marty in person at Smith Ridge Veterinary in South Salem, New York. While my dogs have been on a raw homemade diet for 8.5 years, one of my dogs (a rescue) was having horrible skin issues. Most vets prescribed medications to alleviate SYMPTOMS and suppress my dog's immune system.Dr. Marty, on the other hand, focused on identifying the UNDERLYING CAUSE of my dog's skin condition. After evaluating his bloodwork he prescribed a regimen of natural supplements that support specific organ function. In only three weeks my dog is doing great - his skin has cleared up; he's no longer scratching; eyes are bright and clear; and he's very energetic.Dr. Marty truly loves animals and wants them to live a long, happy healthy life.I encourage anyone who loves their furry family members to read this book and consider implementing Dr. Marty's recommendations. Doing so will improve your pet's quality of life and save you heartache (and money!) in the long run.On a final note, this book is easy and fast to read. Dr. Marty seamlessly intersperses valuable information along with case studies, keeping the reader interested and turning pages.My favorite chapter was the second to last one, which discusses the spiritual connection between pets and their owners.This book makes great gifts for the animal lovers in your life. I gave half a dozen away last month and just ordered a few more for colleagues.My pups and I are blessed to have access to this incredibly special human being. If you cannot meet Dr. Marty in person this book is the next best thing!

I've bought this book 3 or 4 times now. I keep passing it on. It is full of wisdom and has molded how I take care of my dogs. We all love them, but we think doing what the vets ALL say about shots especially is best. Nope! This book points out that cancer used to be almost non existent. Now, with all the things we do to them it's rampant. This book opened my eyes to being more responsible. I've researched other places because of this book. Now, I would never ever get shots every year. They are most often good with just one set of shots. There is a simple test to see if they are still protected. Then the way that vets give all the shots over and over to little puppies is awful. Never again for me. Even the AKC says we should only give shots once every 3 years! Too many vets care more about money than they do animals.

This book was suggested to me by Sonya Fitzpatrick and she suggested we are over vaccinating our pets. It's great reading. I'm happy to note my vets already use titer testing and were happy to accommodate my request to do it instead of just vaccinating at the suggested protocols. Dr. Goldstein suggests to use this testing to see if pets need certain vaccines as he does suggest some are needed while others are not. Very good information for animal lovers. I was unaware that vaccines are not done by sizes but it's a one size for all approach (which is sad) but I am glad he is making us aware of the truth. TY Dr.

I feel strongly that the book should have a broader audience than pet owners. Much of what Goldstein does in his practice is derived from HUMAN medical research. The chapter on cancer, for example, proves the viability of alternative treatments for cancer, and his method is adopted from a doctor who basically got run out of the United States by the all-powerful Medical Establishment and moved to Jamaica to set up a practice. As long as we have a multibillion-dollar cancer industry in the United States, and as long as industrialists are on the board of every national cancer association and the panels that report to the government on the status of cancer research, what hope can we realistically have of finding a cure in mainstream medicine? If I get cancer, I won't call my doctor; I'll call my travel agent.Cancer is just one example of the work that Goldstein has done that is changing veterinary treatments, and he has taken his fair share of flak for it, which he writes about in this book. Were he practicing on human beings, he'd doubtless be harangued as a "quack" all over the Internet and by the American Medical Association. Would that we had more young doctors who would think outside the box and take the chances Goldstein took.

The chapter on pet food where Dr. Martin Goldstein explains that it comes from rendering plants, made me question the nutritive value of what I was feeding our Bernese Mountain Dog. Now she gets people food--the same meals that we eat. She is calmer, friskier and her coat is shinier. Of course if companies have an animal carcass --beef, chicken, etc.--they will sell the part that is suitable for human consumption to humans because they get much more money. Leftovers go to animal food, including all the dead animals disposed of that are processed in rendering plants. And they don't skin the deceased horses, household pets, zoo animals: hooves, hair, fur, bones --all of it goes into an unhealthy mix. She bumped into a mergirl from her third-grade class. “Watch out, for shark’s sake!” Pearl Swamp snapped. “Sorry,” Kiki said, still clutching her letter. Her heart pounded in excitement. Kiki loved getting notes from her family in the Eastern Oceans. It made going to school so far away, in the Western Oceans, a little easier. She soared through her doorway and swam straight to her killer-whale skeleton bed. Once she had curled her purple tail among the gray heron feathers, Kiki ripped open the letter. Dear Kiki, Hi! How is school? I wish I could go 2 Trident 2. Guess what? My f riends started a book club! We are reading a scary book. I will show it 2 u when u get home! Miss u, Yuta Kiki read the letter twice and blinked back a tear. Her brother Yuta was a year younger than she was. She had been very close to him ever since they were small fry. Now that she went to school so far away, she really missed him. Kiki glanced around her dorm room. Rainbow-colored jellyfish lamps hung from the curved ceiling, and a small waterfall tinkled gently in a corner. One whole wall glittered with plankton. A magnificent coral reef made up another wall. Kiki knew she was lucky to have such a fin-tastic space all to herself. At home her brothers had to share bedrooms. But living all by herself could be lonely. Sometimes she wished she had someone to talk to. Weekends were the worst, because her best friends, Echo and Shelly, usually spent those evenings with their families. Many students who lived in the dorms also left to visit relatives. At least she had plenty of books to read! Kiki looked at her tall rock bookcase and smiled. She had read every book on her shelf over and over. Reading stories always helped her feel less lonesome. Kiki read Yuta’s letter one more time before hopping on her tail with excitement. I LOVE the Junior League of Denver's cookbooks and this was no disappointment. One of the reviews I read dissed the book because it contained no new recipes, but I really appreciated the additions to some of the old favorites. Nutritional info was welcomed and the index categories ("family friendly" "freezes well" "make ahead" "quick fix" etc) are great! The photos are gorgeous and even though my efforts never look as good as the picture, they never disappoint! Its a beautiful, well thought out book.

I love this cookbook. I bought it used. The ad said it was in "good" condition. I doubt this cookbook has ever been used...it is in excellent condition. The recipes are easy to read and understand and taste great. At work we are lucky to have the ability to grill each day for lunch and we pick one recipe each week to try. So, far no one has been disappointed in any of the lunches. You have to get this cookbook. It is FANTASTIC!!!!

Best cook book ever. Every recipe works and they list the calories, carbs, etc too. Lots of photos and no hard to find ingredients. I've bought at least 10 of these and given them out to friends.

i bought this largely because the reviews indicated it was helpful in learning how to operate the spiralizer, but in fact it really didn't give much help at all, a real disappointment. I am a vegetarian so many of the recipes were useless, and they all seemed to be based on either spirals as "noodles" and spirals in salads - not a very wide range of ideas. I have come up with a lot more on my own. I am giving the book to someone who may appreciate it more.

I had recently gotten my Mueller Spiralizer and found some decent spiralizer recipes online, but then I got this book and I'm SO glad I did. Now it's as if my zucchini spaghetti maker is in the hands of an expert chef. My kids are crazy about zoodles and everything I prepare with these recipes. They have no idea they're eating so healthy...highly recommend this book!

I received a free Kindle edition of this. I don't have a Müeller Spiral-Ultra Vegetable Spiralizer, I have an Inspiralizer, a Vegetti, and also a Paderno.I did read the section on using the Müeller, and it seems to be thorough and well-written and stresses how to safely use, and clean it.I have already bookmarked several recipes to try. She has some good ideas that I hadn't thought of -serving beef stew over squash noodles, and using zucchini noodles to make kugel-sweet or less sweet, there are directions for both.The navigation is fine, the editing needs a bit of tweaking, and the occasional instruction needs a bit of clarifying-such as do you use the entire bok choy stem and leaf, or not. All recipes have the nutrition information, which is a very good thing. The recipes run the gamut from very low-sodium to fairly high, to very high, and it's nice to know this ahead of time.The subtitle mentions "potatoes into lasagna" but I couldn't find any mention of this in the book. It's a moot point for me, because I can't have potatoes, but I did want to read about her technique. I use zucchini sliced on a mandoline for lasagna noodles.I enjoyed reading this, even the recipes I can't make because they contain forbidden foods have given me creative ideas. I'm looking forward to trying the recipes I can have. The recipes look good; even the ones I can't have do look good to me.She's very nice, and responds to problems that need to be fixed.

I've bought half a dozen different brands of "spiralizers" and none of them worked properly except for this one. I know I still need practice with using it, but so far it's worked just as promised. I was beginning to think I'd never be able to enjoy zucchini "noodles" and now I can. This device is substantially more well-made than others I've tried and discarded. Something you expect for a German made product, I guess.

It's hard finding recipe books that don't call for a bunch of ingredients I don't have on hand and require a ton of prep time😙. Most healthy eating books are like that and I honestly bought this book expecting the exact same thing! Thankfully my expectations weren't met! These are easy, quick, delicious and nutritious recipes that I have (so far) loved and my children too! I especially enjoy the soup section!

After I purchased my Müeller Spiral-Ultra Vegetable Spiralizer, I realized Mueller's videos were somewhat lacking in information. This book is a good adjunct: shows you which blades to use and the results you get, with pics of both blades and result. Just looking at the different shapes gave me ideas on how to use them.We've tried the Chili Mac recipe, and everyone loved it. Although there are not a lot of truly new recipes for spiralized vegetable main dishes (there are a lot of very similar ones out there), there are some I've bookmarked to try.in the future.

While this book has beautiful color photos on covers, there are NO recipe photos in book. The whole book is produced on poor quality paper in black and white. The few "how-to-use the device" photos in first few page are grainy and of poor quality. It also has no index in back of book to search for specifics food recipes - such as sweet potato - and does not even have a chapter on "vegetable" recipes to help in that way, making it difficult to be useful as a resource. I would not recommend this book and I returned it. Priced too high considering the quality.

I bought the Mueller Spiralizer and the Mueller Spiralizer cookbook. It has lots of recipes for healthy preparation of meals that promote weight loss. Many times it is boring to make some vegetable recipes. But this book and others by J.S. Amie informs you how to take many vegetables and spiralize them. This opens the door to a new world of recipes as well as promoting the use of some vegetables like squash, beets, etc. in interesting ways to make you want to eat healthier meals at home rather than settle for unhealthy meals at local fast food restaurants. I highly recommend this book as well as the spiralizer and the other books by J.S. Amie.

And lest anyone think that fashion is trivial, it is a driving force of the world- which can be positive or negative. This book should be purchased along with Vreeland's documentary "The Eye needs to Travel" - hearing Vreeland's voice is essential.

Outrageous, colorful, and in no way 100% true, D.V. is an all around fun read! The vignettes of such larger than life characters such as Coco Chanel, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Charles Revson (he always had a look in his eyes), Aly Khan, General de Gaulle, and the rather dizzying array of other 20th century personalities who are given the D.V. treatment are pure fun. The inimitable Mrs. V. addresses the reader as if the two of you are nestled in a comfy corner in her living room, and she's confiding her memoirs, mixed with the advice a favorite aunt would give.I loved the descriptions of Mrs. V's personal style, from the cheapness of prewar couture, to the Chinese red nail lacquer, to her introduction of the thong sandal to America. I adored it all; the flamboyance, the insouciant commentaries on American hypocrisy, the rather sly way she comments on her dismissal from Vogue. What a personality!I'm off to search for a lady's maid; some shoes whose soles are worthy of polishing, so I can cross my legs in confidence; and for some silk underclothes in greige. Oh, wait. You say that's not possible in this day and age? No doubt the divine Mrs. V. would find a suitable replacement, and with her trademark style. If only she was still around!

I've heard that not every word of "D.V." is necessarily, you know, true. Well, whatever. In an age of fraud and being less than truthful to the public, it's permissible here because D.V. has such a good time, and really, we'll never know with someone who led a life that epitomized the meaning of glamor and style. D.V. is from the era just before tabloidery, going commando, and movie stars traveling with stylists, and her memoir is less about real events than how one person decided to do it all in grand style. While I usually balk at any personal histories that seem a bit too much on the "so privileged, la-di-dah" side, D.V.'s prose reveals only her elegance and her joy at being around style and trendsetting in all its forms - art, achievement, derring-do.Her madcap writing, asides, and tangents provide little snippets about how she felt people ought to comport themselves, and if you aren't terribly on the very serious side, you will enjoy it or at least enjoy getting to know Mrs. Vreeland. Let's hope that we make a return to style being something more than where you got your hat. Or let's bring back hats.

I just loved this book - I couldn't stop chuckling - one of the campiest things I've read since all the Patrick Dennis novels. I actually thought it was a straight forward biography, and I purchased it after watching a documentary of her on Amazon Prime, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it much more - after all, if I had wanted straight biography I could read wikipedia!

I am 99% sure that most of this is complete fabrication (polishing the soles of your shoes?) but I don't care. Diana Vreeland was a fashion icon who literally changed the way that fashion was done. From putting ethnic models on the pages of Vogue to championing designers who would become legends, she is responsible for the way fashion is reported today. This book is not only a must-have for lovers of fashion, it's the best ride since "Auntie Mame."
