Absolutely beautiful history of Louisiana. If you like to send snail mail I would recommend two packets because I had a stack of cards that I was saving for myself!!

Great collection. I wish it had more postcards...I bought this to mail out but now I want to keep all of them.

This is a gorgeous book of postcards showing New Orleans Cemeteries. Such lovely buildings, monuments, and decadent ruins. I toured the cemeteries when I visited New Orleans and likes the architecture of the cemeteries. They are truly cities of the dead. Beautiful postcards that can be removed and mailed if you wish.

I use these for Postcrossing.com, good selection that gives people in other countries a glimpse of New Orleans that they might not otherwise see. The cemeteries are one of my favorite things about NOLA and I like to share that with others.

The postcards are excellent for the value. They come in a book. They are perferated on the sides however you can use a paper cut and remove that everyone I have sent to has certainly enjoyed them. Thank you

Wow. This is one of the best books I have ever read. The author applies the Alexander Technique flawlessly to speaking, singing, and breathing, without ever using the words "Alexander" or "Technique". That's pretty cool, because the skills you learn in the Alexander Technique are the foundation for learning ANY skill, so talking about it without using the name "Alexander Technique" removes the false implication that "you have to be a part of our little club before you can do anything correctly". As a professional brass player, I think this is the best information on breathing I've ever seen, and it's probably not what you've been taught before (unless you're VERY lucky). I don't have a higher score to give a non-fiction book.

Phenomenal resource if you want to understand what a voice coach means when s/he uses terms like focus, support, intention, and passagio. I was a little disappointed that vibrato was not covered, but when you are singing with the fundamentals covered, the vibrato can be controlled quite well. There were a few questionable recommendations, according to my (operatic) coach, but some of them might be applicable to different styles of singing. Get a good voice teacher, but if you are a retired anatomy & physiology teacher, you will want this book to refer back to, for a nuts-and-bolts explanation.

At first I was a little put off by the book, because it isn't a usual voice pedagogy book and it isn't filled with vocal exercises either. But, when I finished reading it, I realized I love the concepts he presents -- they make singing sense. Read it with an open mind and it will influence your singing dramatically. I highly recommend reading this book.

A great book that easily explains the beauty of the voice (speaking and singing) when we unlearn old habits and teach the voice to operate the way it was intended. All the important topics were covered including breathing and support, laryngeal musculature, posture, and also what not to do vs. what to do when singing.All of it is explained without being too technical or confusing. Highly Recommended to speakers and singers....beginners and pros alike.

I purchased this book this weekend, and read it in one sitting. Once I finished, I realized that this was the book that brought into ONE package all of the training and voice pedagogy that I have studied through separate authors.The writer brings an intensive training in physiology and the actual function of the vocal instrument and its place within a larger body mechanism. He eschews breath training methods that engender tensions and imbalance in the total system. At several points in the text I wanted to shout "hooray!"Any teacher of voice should have this book in their library for training singers. There is no "magic vocal exercise" in this book, but you can select your training tools based on the particular function that you are trying to achieve.I look forward with great anticipation to his next book "Anatomy of the Voice". This is a MUST own, MUST read book.

A lot of good information about how you should be using your body to have a great voice. But only about less than 10% of the document gives practicle tip to get to this step.

I have an unpleasant speaking voice, so I bought this book in the hope of finding exercises to make my voice a bit more deep and mellow. If you are aching to see page after page of detailed drawings of the head, neck and abdomen -- accompanied by repetitive, abstract and technical text that is most appropriate for a medical student -- this is the book for you. The only lively passages in the book are an attack on Michael Jackson (page 63) and a complaint (page 98) about the "typical rock-and-roll singer." The author takes until page 82 (really!) to offer even one vocal exercise. The bulk of the instructional material starts on page 85. I gave up and will live with my ugly voice.
